Callander Tarmac Services – Manor House Road Construction
A substantial manor-house road in Callander, Scotland, rebuilt from the ground up by UK Roadworks Group. We excavated and widened the approach, fitted flat-top edging kerbs and constructed an MOT Type 1 sub-base along the entire road. Base-grade tarmac was then laid, followed by a heavy-duty SMA-grade hot tarmac surface course. The finished black surface follows the sweeping approach, with the kerbs defining a clean boundary against the surrounding grounds. This project brings together excavation, road widening, kerbing and two-stage tarmac construction in one complete scheme.
Preparation, materials and finish
- Excavation and widening. The existing approach was excavated and widened to form the new road layout.
- Kerbs and sub-base. Flat-top edging kerbs were fitted, and the entire road was based with MOT Type 1 sub-base.
- Base-grade tarmac. A base course of tarmac was laid over the prepared sub-base.
- Heavy-duty SMA finish. SMA-grade hot tarmac formed the final surface course, completing the manor-house approach.
Tarmac driveways and private roads in Callander
The Callander project involved a complete road construction, including the work below the final tarmac. For your property, we assess the existing surface, proposed width, edges, levels and traffic before setting out the required excavation, sub-base and asphalt layers in a written quotation.
SMA means stone mastic asphalt. It was the heavy-duty surface course selected for this manor-house road. Material grades and layer thicknesses for another road or driveway are chosen for that site, rather than copied automatically from a previous job.
