Farm-road and private-lane repairs

A long access road may have isolated potholes, broken edges at passing places or repeated failures beside a drain. We assess each section and the condition beneath it before deciding which patches need cutting out and whether a longer section needs resurfacing. Tell us about tractors, deliveries and other heavy vehicles using the route.

For Perthshire farms and estates, a simple marked plan with the length and width of each damaged area helps us organise a survey. Include gate widths, narrow bends, gradients and places where material deliveries and machinery can turn.

Driveways, shared entrances and visitor parking

At homes around Crieff, Comrie and Perth, repairs may involve a driveway entrance, turning space or service trench. We check levels at garages, thresholds and drainage channels so that the repair fits the existing surface.

Hotels, holiday properties, golf clubs and other visitor premises can send a list of access routes and parking that must remain available. We discuss work phases and reopening arrangements before booking; opening hours alone do not determine when a repair can safely be used.

Patching, resurfacing or rebuilding?

  • Local pothole or failed patch: remove loose or failed material to suitable boundaries, assess the base, then prepare, lay and compact the specified asphalt.
  • Widespread worn surfacing: assess whether road planing and a larger resurfaced section are appropriate.
  • Sinking, repeated damage or standing water: investigate the base, levels and drainage before covering the area. Additional preparation may be needed.

The repair depth, material, bonding treatment and joint finish are specified for the site. A new patch may differ in colour from the weathered surface around it. See our full tarmac repair and reinstatement service for the work we undertake.

Your repair questions

Can you repair a farm road without resurfacing the full length?

We assess whether sound sections can stay in place while failed areas are repaired. Widespread movement, weak construction or drainage problems may require a broader scope. Send an overview and close-up photographs of the damage.

Do you cover Crieff, Comrie and Kinross as well as Perth?

Yes. We welcome repair enquiries throughout the areas listed on this page. Give us the postcode so that survey access, travel and crew availability can be confirmed.

Can pothole repairs be combined with surface dressing?

Yes, where surface dressing is suitable for the road. Failed areas and preparation are assessed first, then the quotation distinguishes the repairs from the proposed tar-and-chip treatment.
