Farm entrances, private roads and yard surfaces
For an Ayrshire farm or rural property, distinguish the tarmac sections from loose-stone or unsurfaced sections when sending photographs. Hot-asphalt patching is assessed against the existing construction; a track that needs grading, drainage or a new base requires a different scope.
Include the heaviest machinery and delivery vehicles using the entrance, together with road width and turning space. We discuss whether local repairs will address the damage or whether a longer section needs preparation and resurfacing. Surface dressing can be considered separately for a suitable prepared road.
Factory yards, distribution centres and car parks
Repair enquiries around Ayr, Troon, Irvine and Kilmarnock include factories, distribution centres, transport and HGV yards, retail parks, superstores and commercial car parks. We assess potholes, rutting, failed patches and damaged loading approaches against vehicle use and the existing construction. Mark the locations of potholes, broken patches and water collecting so we can review the whole affected area.
Tell us about guest changeovers, deliveries, shared access and dates when the premises need full use of the surface. We agree the survey, travel and work programme for the job. The gallery example below is from Glasgow and illustrates industrial repair work; it is not presented as an Ayrshire project.
Housing associations, caravan parks and shared access
For managed residential sites, housing associations and property factors, send a plan or numbered photographs of damaged access roads, parking courts and footpaths. Identify the authorised contact and any requirements for residents, pedestrians and refuse collections.
Caravan parks, holiday parks, schools and leisure facilities can request a repair schedule around guest arrivals, deliveries and operating hours. Local patching, a larger resurfaced section or a wider preparation package are assessed against the actual defects and use of the site.
Utility reinstatement and repeated surface failures
For cable, pipe or service trenches, provide dimensions, required pavement layers and the responsibilities for excavation and backfill. We can assess reinstatement alongside pothole repairs elsewhere on the same property.
Repeated sinking, water collecting or patches that keep breaking up can indicate an underlying problem. The scope may need base repair, level correction or drainage work before replacement asphalt. Covering the visible damage alone may not address its cause.
Patching, resurfacing or rebuilding?
- Local pothole or failed patch: remove loose or failed material to suitable boundaries, assess the base, then prepare, lay and compact the specified asphalt.
- Widespread worn surfacing: assess whether road planing and a larger resurfaced section are appropriate.
- Sinking, repeated damage or standing water: investigate the base, levels and drainage before covering the area. Additional preparation may be needed.
The repair depth, material, bonding treatment and joint finish are specified for the site. A new patch may differ in colour from the weathered surface around it. See our full tarmac repair and reinstatement service for the work we undertake.

Your repair questions
Which Ayrshire towns can enquire about pothole repairs?
We welcome enquiries throughout North, South and East Ayrshire, including Ayr, Prestwick, Troon, Irvine, Kilmarnock, Kilwinning, Largs and Cumnock. The postcode and scope help us confirm arrangements for your site.
Can you repair a farm entrance that has both tarmac and stone?
We can assess the different surfaces together. The quotation distinguishes tarmac repairs from any grading, base preparation or surfacing needed on the stone sections.
Is there a fixed price per pothole?
There is no single price that suits every repair. Area, depth, base condition, access, material requirements and travel affect the quotation. Send dimensions and photographs for an initial discussion.
